SPRING BLOSSOM APPLIQUE

SPRING BLOSSOM APPLIQUE
Thursday 9th April
Tutor: Kate Findlay
10:00 - 16:00
Make a small landscape in a day inspired by blossom trees. Images will be provided. We will collage together a fabric background, add tree trunks, then use a confetti technique, cutting tiny pieces with rotary cutters, and sprinkling these onto “mistyfuse”. Tulle is added before ironing and stitching. The composition can then be finished with hand or machine sewing as preferred. We will make a design approximately 35cm long by 35cm high max.
What to bring:
Sewing kit, fabric scissors, Rotary cutter, cutting mat (small)
Sewing machine. Free motion quilting foot ideally. (Practice at home first)
Machine threads in a variety of colours - browns, greens and blues, pinks, yellow and white. Variegated threads work well for this project
Included on the day:
Any other materials not specified for the students to bring
Expert tuition
1 to 1 guidance
Detailed demonstrations
A selection of tea, freshly brewed coffee, biscuits and delicious cakes
