CERAMICS: SPIRAL SHELL SERVING PLATTER
CERAMICS: SPIRAL SHELL SERVING PLATTER
Wednesday 8th April
Tutor: Chloe Phillips
10:00 - 16:00
Level: Beginner and up
This hands-on workshop will guide you through making a beautiful, ocean-inspired chip and dip platter — designed in the form of a seashell and perfect for serving and entertaining. Suitable for all skill levels, your platter will be hand-built using traditional ceramic techniques, formed in sections, and carefully shaped to capture the flowing curves and texture of a natural shell. You’ll learn how to refine your piece, smooth the surface, and carve subtle details into your design. Once your platter is complete, you’ll choose from a range of stunning glazes to complement your design. From bright sea tones to sandy hues, these finishes will highlight the form and texture of your shell.
After your workshop, Chloe will take your platter to be dried, glazed, and fired — a process that takes approximately 4-5 weeks. When ready, your finished piece will be returned to Micklems for you to collect and enjoy at home or gift to someone special.
