WINTER SCENE APPLIQUE

Level: Beginner and up
Make a small winter landscape in a day learning how to use perspective to create tree shadows. Images will be provided. We will collage together a fabric background, using cotton fabrics and organzas, add tree trunks, then use a confetti technique, cutting tiny pieces with rotary cutters, and securing the pieces with tulle. Tree shadows will be added to create perspective. There will be an option to add other features such as a printed bird or animal. The composition can then be finished with hand or machine sewing as preferred. We will make a design approximately 35cm long by 35cm high max. Sewing starts mid- afternoon, and will need to be completed at home. Ideally you will have some experience with free motion sewing. Check that you have an embroidery foot that fits your machine and practice before the workshop.
What to bring:
Sharp fabric scissors, (large and small)
Box of pins, hand sewing needles,
Rotary cutter, cutting mat (small)
Pencil and long ruler.
Sewing machine. Free motion embroidery foot ideally. Check your manual and practice before the day!
Threads – black, dark brown, white, light blue, mauve, pale yellow and a selection of others. If you intend to hand sew, bring your preferred threads

A selection of tea, freshly brewed coffee, biscuits and delicious cakes. If you have any specific dietary requirements or allergies, please feel free to bring along your own provisions/milk alternatives etc.

Terms - Fee is payable on booking. If, having booked, you can no longer attend, we are unable to offer a refund or transfer you to another workshop. However, you may nominate someone else to attend the workshop or class in your place by notifying us using the contact page on the Micklems Farm website. We reserve the right to cancel a workshop up to 48 hours prior to the workshop date. We will only cancel due to insufficient places sold and you will be refunded the full amount paid.
