PAINTING A LANDSCAPE IN OILS: EN PLEIN AIR
PAINTING A LANDSCAPE IN OILS: EN PLEIN AIR
Friday 15th May
Tutor: Shauna Redman-Fosker
10:00 - 16:00
Level: Intermediate
Painting ‘en plein air’ (painting outdoors) is an exhilarating experience especially when painting a landscape using the natural compounds of oil paint with its unique texture and versatility. Not only is the artist part of the environment they are trying to capture on canvas but they are also exposed to the elements that influence that environment. Painting outdoors sharpens one’s observation and spontaneity resulting in a painting shaped not only by place, light, texture, energy and the elements but also by the experience of just being there.
Why not dust off that old box of oil paints and brushes at the back of the cupboard? Pick up a canvas, put on an old shirt and come and have a go for yourself at Micklem’s Farm inspiring garden.
If by any chance it is raining on the day this will restrict what we can do outside. So for backup please bring some images/photos of landscapes that inspire you and we will work on these in the studio.
