LEARNING COLOUR IN OILS FOR BEGINNERS

How great would it be if you could pick up your paint brush and mix any colour you wanted, without ending up with a nondescript colour resembling mud! In this beginner’s course, learn how to mix vibrant, clean colours but also to make these colours into beautiful soft and grayed versions and darker tones. Delve into the magic and power of the use of colour to provoke powerful responses to your work. Start this colour journey and see your work quickly improve.
What to bring:
4b pencil, rubber and putty rubber
Palette knife size 22 or similar
Tear off paint mixing palette pad for oils
An A4 tear off PAD of CANVAS paper - Essential to bring, as we will being doing multiple exercises
Add an optional canvas board 7”x 5” or 8”x 8” if you’d like to do a more ‘finished piece’ in the afternoon but it can be done on the canvas paper from your pad equally well.
Selection of flat, synthetic brushes in a range from 4 - 12
One small round brush size 2, for detailed work
Rags or baby wipes (biodegradable)
Liquin original painting medium for thinning your paint.
and sansoder or zest it low odour thinners for cleaning brushes.
Paint - as this is a colour workshop it is important you bring all the correct colours listed below.
Best quality student grade reasonably priced oil paints are Winsor & Newton ‘Winton’ range

Terms - Fee is payable on booking. If, having booked, you can no longer attend, we are unable to offer a refund. However, you may nominate someone else to attend the workshop or class in your place by notifying us using the contact page on the Micklems Farm website. We reserve the right to cancel a workshop up to 48 hours prior to the workshop date. We will only cancel due to insufficient places sold and you will be refunded the full amount paid.
