Level: Beginner and up

Exploring the possibilities in shape, colour and tone each student will create a unique abstract floral design. Focusing on composition, tone and colour harmony & brushwork.

In these paintings what may look ‘loose and carefree’ takes planning and preparation in advance of committing our paint to the canvas. I’ll give you lots of design ideas to consider and we’ll practice being bold and confident with our brushmarks as we create our abstract floral designs.

What to bring:

• A canvas or board A3 size (or 16” x 16” square)

• A selection brushes to include a 15-20mm flat

• A good selection of artist quality acrylic paints eg.Daler Rowney/ Winsor Newton

• Palette knife – eg. Winsor and Newton size 22

• A ‘stay-wet’ palette (or tray lined with paper towel and baking parchment)

• A paper palette

• A hairdryer

• A water spray

• A blob of bluetack

• A packed lunch

Optional: A bottle of white gesso

Included on the day:

• All other materials not specified for the students to bring

• Expert tuition

• 1 to 1 guidance

• Detailed demonstrations

• A selection of tea, freshly brewed coffee, biscuits and delicious cakes. If you have any specific dietary requirements or allergies, please feel free to bring along your own provisions/milk alternatives etc.

Terms - Fee is payable on booking. If, having booked, you can no longer attend, we are unable to offer a refund or transfer you onto another workshop. However, you may nominate someone else to attend the workshop or class in your place by notifying us using the contact page on the Micklems Farm website. We reserve the right to cancel a workshop up to 48 hours prior to the workshop date. We will only cancel due to insufficient places sold and you will be refunded the full amount paid.
