A YEAR IN THE GARDEN: JUNE - WEEDS & WILDFLOWERS
A YEAR IN THE GARDEN: JUNE - WEEDS & WILDFLOWERS
Sunday 14th June
Tutor: Karen Carter
10:00 - 16:00
Level: Beginner and up
Join us as we track an artistic year in the garden, taking inspiration from both our own gardens and the lovely surroundings of Micklems Farm. As spring gives way to summer the borders are starting to fill with flowers, and weeds & wildflowers vie for space amongst the cultivated plants, bringing a delicate counterpoint to the more showy blooms.
But let’s celebrate their delicate beauty and do a deep dive into a dandelion, campion or anything else that is cheekily taking up space in your garden - after all, a weed is only a wildflower in the wrong place!
We will examine a single plant in detail, dissecting it’s structure (quite literally!) and creating a botanical style work page inspired by old book-plates and ‘The Country Diary of an Edwardian Lady’.
There will be lots of demos & step-by-step instruction in this absorbing and mindful project – perfect for a bit of ‘me ’time – no experience needed.
What to bring:
Reference photos / magazine images/ actual plants of weeds and wildflowers – weather permitting, we will have a quick walk round the gardens at Micklems for inspiration. (the tutor will be demonstrating using a dandelion as her subject matter)
