A YEAR IN THE GARDEN: JULY - IN FULL BLOOM
A YEAR IN THE GARDEN: JULY - IN FULL BLOOM
Sunday 5th July
Tutor: Karen Carter
10:00 - 16:00
Level: Beginner and up
Join us as we track an artistic year in the garden, taking inspiration from both our own gardens and the lovely surroundings of Micklems Farm. Be inspired by the abundance of summer when our gardens are in full bloom! Capture the freshness, vivacity and colour of flowers in the garden with a variety of painting techniques in bold bright colours.
We will initially be looking at shape and form, starting with some very loose sketches (you don’t need to be able to draw!) to identify simplified shapes and colour, followed by some brushwork exercises to create leaves and foliage. We will then explore mark-making and layering to capture the impression of a tangle of flowers & foliage.
Throw in a little bit of paper collage and a flourish of decorative spattering to create a vibrant piece of work.
There will be lots of demos & step-by-step instruction in this fun and informal workshop – no experience needed.
