Join Chloe for a playful and creative ceramic workshop where you’ll design and hand-build your own frog-shaped planter from scratch. Suitable for all skill levels, you’ll begin by forming the main planter shape using coiling techniques before adding characterful legs, eyes, and facial details. You’ll be guided through hand-building methods and shown how to use slip techniques to build up surface texture, creating a tactile, organic finish. Once your frog planter is complete, you’ll explore the use of ceramic glazes to add colour, depth, and personality to your piece, bringing your frog to life with expressive details and layered tones. Reference images and guidance will be provided throughout the session to support your design.

After your workshop, Chloe will carefully dry, glaze, and fire your planter — a process that takes around 4–5 weeks. Once finished, your handmade frog planter will be returned to Micklems for you to collect and enjoy at home, ready to display with your favourite plant.

Materials:

Materials will be provided by the tutor. The cost of these is £10 which includes the clay, glazes, glazing and firing, payable to the tutor during the course.

• A selection of tea, freshly brewed coffee, biscuits and delicious cakes. If you have any specific dietary requirements or allergies, please feel free to bring along your own provisions/milk alternatives etc.

Terms - Fee is payable on booking. If, having booked, you can no longer attend, we are unable to offer a refund or transfer you to another workshop. However, you may nominate someone else to attend the workshop or class in your place by notifying us using the contact page on the Micklems Farm website. We reserve the right to cancel a workshop up to 48 hours prior to the workshop date. We will only cancel due to insufficient places sold and you will be refunded the full amount paid.
