Level: Beginners and up

In this new workshop we will paint some recipes – these can be food recipes or cocktail recipes, whichever you prefer. We will use pen and watercolour for the paintings.

Janina will cover these topics:

  • Planning a layout

  • Lettering options

  • Basics of pen and watercolour painting techniques

All the stages will be demonstrated to the group, and there will be plenty of time for your own paintings and for one to one support.

Janina will being a selection of recipe books and recipe cards to work from, but if you have your own favourites please bring them.

What to bring:

  • Watercolour paint – pans or tubes are fine

  • Several sheets of smooth A4 watercolour paper – for example Cass Art hot pressed (HP) 300gsm or similar.

  • Several sheets of drawing paper

  • Watercolour brushes – eg small round number 2, medium round number 6.

  • Fine waterproof black pen eg Staedtler Pigment liner 0.3

  • Pencil, sharpener, eraser

  • Mixing palette with separate wells for mixing colours

  • Jam jars for water

  • Kitchen roll

  • A packed lunch

If you have the following, please bring them, otherwise they will be available to borrow on the day as needed

  • Masking fluid

  • Dip pen

Included on the day:

  • Any other materials not specified for the students to bring

  • Expert tuition

  • 1 to 1 guidance

  • Detailed demonstrations

  • A selection of tea, freshly brewed coffee, biscuits and delicious cakes. If you have any specific dietary requirements or allergies, please feel free to bring along your own provisions/milk alternatives etc

Terms - Fee is payable on booking. If, having booked, you can no longer attend, we are unable to offer a refund or transfer you to another workshop. However, you may nominate someone else to attend the workshop or class in your place by notifying us using the contact page on the Micklems Farm website. We reserve the right to cancel a workshop up to 48 hours prior to the workshop date. We will only cancel due to insufficient places sold and you will be refunded the full amount paid.
