This workshop will offer you the opportunity to experiment with glass fusing techniques and make a number of glass sculptures to feature in your garden. There are many possibilities from abstract garden structures to flowers, birds or wind chimes. Whether you are new to glass or have experience of fusing there will be lots to inspire you and ideas to share.

We will plan and cut our glass according to our design and assemble it ready for firing in a Glass Kiln. Once fired it will be returned to Micklems Farm for collection. At home you can assemble your glass piece to metal structures or stakes or suspend it from trees or structures. Suitable glues and assemblage techniques will be discussed during this workshop.   Some metal structures and stakes will be available for sale. You may also bring your own materials e.g. driftwood, willow etc. and we can discuss its suitability and use.

Skills and techniques that will be taught in the course:

  • Glass cutting techniques

  • Creating colour and texture

  • Group discussion to extend ideas

  • Fusing and slumping techniques

  • Pattern design and symmetry

  • Display solutions

  • Discussion of suitable glue and assemblage
