DRAMATIC SKIES IN WATERCOLOUR

Designed for artists with some experience of watercolour, this workshop will focus on techniques to capture the ever-changing light and atmosphere of dramatic skies. Learn how to paint clouds with depth and texture, explore the shifting colours of skies at dawn and dusk. Through step-by-step demonstrations and guided practice, you’ll develop expressive approaches to light, tone and contrast - to add beautiful atmospheric skies to your watercolour landscapes and seascapes.
What to bring:
Watercolour Brushes
Recommended Brushes (Artist will have some spare materials too)
1 inch flat synthetic or hake
3/4 inch flat synthetic
A mop squirrel or synthetic (Jacksons Art do a good synthetic squirrel mop called Raven, try size 2 or 4)
Fine brush size 4 or
Rigger for wispy clouds
Watercolour Paints
cobalt blue
ultramarine blue
cobalt turquoise light
naples yellow
cadmium yellow
cadmium red
yellow ochre or raw sienna
alizarin crimson
indigo
paynes grey
burnt sienna or sepia
Other bits
Plastic palette with deep wells for mixing watercolour
Water spray
2b pencil and rubber
Apron

Detailed demonstrations
A selection of tea, freshly brewed coffee, biscuits and delicious cakes. If you have any specific dietary requirements or allergies, please feel free to bring along your own provisions/milk alternatives etc

Terms - Fee is payable on booking. If, having booked, you can no longer attend, we are unable to offer a refund or transfer you to another workshop. However, you may nominate someone else to attend the workshop or class in your place by notifying us using the contact page on the Micklems Farm website. We reserve the right to cancel a workshop up to 48 hours prior to the workshop date. We will only cancel due to insufficient places sold and you will be refunded the full amount paid.
