BOTANICAL BOOKS: COLLAGE, PAINT & PRINT

BOTANICAL BOOKS: COLLAGE, PAINT & PRINT
Sunday 19th October
Tutor: Karen Carter
10:00 - 16:00
Level: Beginner and up
Create a lovely book of autumn, layering images of leaves and seedheads from gelli plate prints, monoprints and handmade stamps; then collage the elements together in a simple concertina book to create a unique, mixed media piece of work. Using a variety of hand-printed and collaged elements we will work through a series of stages creating layers, adding in washes of paint, plus a bit of dripping and spattering! Having constructed an interesting base we will then work in a combination of transfer, paint & print using a limited colour palette to create our book pages.
This is a very organic and forgiving process - at any stage more paint, prints or collage can be added and reworked until you’re happy with the final result. We will be working in a handmade concertina book as a way of holding all our ideas and
techniques, which becomes not only a great reference book, but also a beautiful object in its own right.
There will be lots of step-by-step demos and individual help in this fun & lively workshop. No experience needed. Just bring a big apron and a willingness to experiment and play!
What to bring:
