BEGINNER WATERCOLOUR COURSE

BEGINNER WATERCOLOUR COURSE
Starting on Thursday 21st August for 6 weeks
Tutor: Angie Mills
10:00 - 13:00
10:00 - 13:00
Level: Beginner
We’re pleased to offer a brand new watercolour course with Angie Mills. This is a 6 week watercolour foundation course with the aim to dispel two myths, that watercolour painting is impossibly difficult, requiring many years of experience to attain success and that every mistake is irredeemable... Neither are true! Terror is dispelled under Angie Mills’s tuition! Expect 6 mornings of fun! This six week course is from Thursday 21st August until Thursday 2nd October, with a break for half term week commencing 15th October. Each class will run for three hours from 10:00 - 13:00. All the required materials will be supplied, and you’ll take home a set of three brushes and a palette.
Throughout her more than 20 years specialising in watercolour, Angie has taken students from absolute beginners to accomplished watercolourists, and her goal has been to create masters of the materials and techniques rather than victims of watercolour’s hidden mysteries. This course caters for the absolute beginner as well as any student of any level who wishes to find success more quickly, and to solve any of the problems or failures they have run into, by learning how to avoid them.
Students will learn the special properties of the necessary watercolour materials, such as pigments, watercolour papers, watercolour brushes and palettes. Together with colour theory, the use of the colour wheel and specific colour mixing, and with a loaded paint brush in your hand at all times - no dry theory lessons!
Notes will be given on all the early lessons and so an A4 File with a dozen or so A4 plastic pockets should be brought to the first lesson. Gradually students will learn how to take their own notes on each project painted. This is a valuable skill and a huge help to future success, particularly as you need to refer to the ‘how’s and why’s’ of a given technique or colour mix. Meanwhile students can relax during the lessons and not have to keep half their attention on trying to remember every detail - the notes on each subject will be safely in your file.
All of us at Micklems welcome you to these beautiful surroundings, as you begin the Autumn with a new or more successful pastime. You will need to start looking at suitable frames to display your achievements to your families and friends!
