A YEAR IN THE GARDEN: EARLY SPRING

A YEAR IN THE GARDEN: EARLY SPRING
Sunday 8th March
Tutor: Karen Carter
10:00 - 16:00
Level: Beginner and up
Join us as we track an artistic year in the garden, taking inspiration from both our own gardens and the lovely surroundings of Micklems Farm.
As winter gives way to early spring the garden starts to shed its muted palette as the first daffodils and crocuses push their way through the earth in a burst of colour. The first signs of early blossom appear on the hardiest shrubs & trees – blackthorn, forsythia, and the promise of magnolia buds signify the turning of the year.
Working mainly in watercolour with the addition of coloured pencils and dip pens we will make a small concertina book of sketchbook studies, looking at colour mixing, how to simplify flowers shapes for drawing, and creating a record of the changing seasons.
There will be lots of demos & step-by-step instruction in this fun and informal workshop.
