A YEAR IN THE GARDEN: AUGUST - FABULOUS FOLIAGE
A YEAR IN THE GARDEN: AUGUST - FABULOUS FOLIAGE
Sunday 16th August
Tutor: Karen Carter
10:00 - 16:00
Level: Beginner and up
Join us as we track an artistic year in the garden, taking inspiration from both our own gardens and the lovely surroundings of Micklems Farm. Taking inspiration from the lush jungle paintings of Rousseau and the lively markmaking of Hockney we will immerse ourselves in the wonderful world of greenery! To loosen ourselves up we will create lively line-based painted studies of small corners of the garden where foliage is the hero.
Then we will collect leaves and foliage of every shape and size to make studies of colour and form, stylising and simplifying as we go. These will be the starting point for designs using repeat patterns and mandalas for an absorbing and mindful project.
There will be lots of demos & step-by-step instruction in this fun and informal workshop – no experience needed.
