I’d describe myself as a creative all-rounder! I studied ‘Fine art and Ceramics’ A-level and have a BA Hons Degree in ‘Industrial Design & Technology’ from Loughborough University. I worked as a Product Designer for 6 years before setting up my own costume hire business… I have about 1000 costumes in my house in Leamington Spa that I have been hiring out for the last 19 years! I have been painting regularly for the last 15 years, exhibited in ‘Warwickshire Open Studios’ and taken part in ‘Landscape Artist of the Year’ as a wildcard artist. I am inspired by regular visits to St Ives in Cornwall but I paint whatever inspires me be it boats or flowers, dogs or people! I recently specialised in painting commissions of animals ‘alla prima’ in oil paint. I aim to produce a piece of art that not only captures the essence of the animal but is also full of character and colour. A good composition and the freedom to experiment with colour and interesting brush marks is what inspires me most and what I enjoy to teach others. www.lucyburtonart.com
